Meet the Staff:Izzy

Q: How much does the yearbook cost?

A: That depends on when you buy it. The longer you wait, the more expensive the book gets. From the start of school until September 22 the cost is $60 (plus free icons), from September 23 through December 8 the cost is $65, from December 9 through February 2 the cost is $70, from February 3 through May 11 the cost is $75, and from May 12 through June 1 the cost is $80.

Q: How do I purchase a yearbook?

A: All purchases must be made through the Jostens website: www.jostens.com. You can reach their website by clicking the "Click to Order!" button above. All payments are handled by Jostens, and we do not accept payments at the school.

Q: Are there extra books to purchase after the summer deadline?

A: No. We do not make money from the sales of the yearbook, so no extras can be ordered. Much like the production of class rings, the only books that are printed are the books that are ordered. You must purchase your copy before the end-of-year deadline in order to get a book. This year's purchasing deadline is June 1, 2018.

Q: How do I purchase a baby ad for my senior student?

A: A flyer will be sent home with every senior in April with information on purchasing a baby ad. The cost of the 2018 baby ads is $20 and is payable in cash or as a check made out to CMHS. Your purchase of a baby ad pays for the purchasing and maintenance of the yearbook class cameras, equipment, and photo editing software subscriptions. It also provides the software used by The Eaglet in their production of the school newspaper. We thank you for providing our students with the tools necessary to create The Spectator yearbook!

It is important to note that in order to keep our yearbook price low and offer a full-color yearbook, our book cannot exceed 200 pages. As a result, we have limited space for baby ads. We try our best to accommodate all requested ads, but it is important to submit your ad purchase early to ensure that there will be space available for your ad. We accept baby ads on a first come-first served basis, and we cannot guarantee that all ad requests will be able to make it into the book.

Q: The books are really expensive - what if I can't afford to pay $60?

A: Jostens does offer an installment payment plan which spreads the cost over three months. If you purchase before September 22, that is $20 per month. Also, last year I implemented the Yearbook Angels program which requests donations of yearbooks from local businesses/churches/organizations for students who cannot afford to purchase one. Through this program, we are able to offer every donated book to one of our students.

Q: How can I sign up for a free yearbook through the Yearbook Angels program?

A: In order to qualify, students must be on the free and reduced lunch list. Also, beginning this year, we will only be able to give one donated yearbook per household.

Although we would love for every student who cannot afford a yearbook to get one, we can only give away the number of yearbooks that we get donated. Starting in October, students will be able to sign up for the program on a first come-first served basis by grade level (ie. all seniors who have signed up will be first, then juniors, and so on). Students can check the daily announcements to see when and where the sign-up sheet will be available as well as the deadline to sign up for the program.

Last year's number of donated books had already been reached on the sign-up sheet before the end of November, so it is very important that you sign up quickly in order to have the best chance at getting a free yearbook.

The Yearbook Angels program does not cover the cost of baby ads which must be purchased separately.

Q: I would like to donate a yearbook to Yearbook Angels. How can I do that?

A: Thank you so much for your interest in donating! You can contact the yearbook adviser through the contact form below. All donors receive a mention on the opening page of the yearbook and a certificate recognizing their donation. We can also provide a receipt for tax purposes if requested.

Q: When will I get my yearbook?

A: In order for our yearbook to include photos of prom and graduation, the book is printed during the summer. Senior students' yearbooks are mailed to their homes mid-summer. All other students' yearbooks are distributed during the first month of the following school year. We appreciate your patience and understanding during yearbook distribution - which can take two to three weeks to complete once started

Q: I moved after I ordered my yearbook. How can I get mine?

A: Your yearbook can be picked up from the high school's main office. If you have moved outside of the metro area, please contact the yearbook adviser below to discuss shipping options.
